We continue to collaborate in the ERNST consortium on patient safety and second victims in healthcare

On 27-28 June 2023, another meeting took place in Lisbon, Portugal, in a project that addresses the issue of secondary victims in healthcare, i.e. healthcare professionals who have been involved in an adverse event or harm to a patient’s health and have themselves suffered harm as a result. Representatives from 13 European countries, including Slovakia, participated in the working group on training existing and future health professionals and developing support programs for second victims. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of the working group in its activities, planning the next training school, and developing metrics for evaluating support programs for health professionals who have been involved in an incident where a patient’s health has been or may have been compromised.
