ThinLine: Examining the online behavior of young people today

Our colleague, Jana Holučíková was invited to be a part of research project at the Masaryk university in Brno, Czech Republic called ThinLine, aiming to map the use of information and communication tachnologies and the internet in the context of eating habits and fitness among young people. The project focuses on how the population of people using technology to enhance their lifestyle (i.e. eating and exercise) as well as the population that is threatened in this regard, particularly with regard to the development and course of eating disorders.

30th conference of the EHPS: Behaviour Change: Making an impact on health and health services

On 23-27 August 2016, our colleagues Eva Čepová, Zuzana Dankulincová, Daniela Husárová and Jaroslava Kopčáková met with other prominent researchers in the field of health psychology on the 30th annual conference of European Health Psychology Society. They were invited to share their knowledge via three oral and two poster presentations.

Research project proposal submitted to Slovak Research and Development Agency approved

Research project proposal submitted to Slovak Research and Development Agency was approved on May 10th, 2016!

Our team (A. Madarasova Geckova, Z. Dankulincova. D. Bobakova, J. Holubcikova, L. Bosakova, D. Husarova, J. Kopcakova, M. Rebicova Lackova) with colleagues from University of Groningen, The Netherlands (J.P. van Dijk, S.A. Reijneveld), Masaryk University in Brno, Czech republic (J. Sirucek), and Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech republic  (P. Tavel) will collaborate in frame of project APVV-15-0012 Psychosocial development of children with emotional and behavioural problems in the system of care – longitudinal study  in period 7/2016-6/2020.

From genetics to the social determinants of health – research on Roma health

On 1-3 June 2016, our colleagues Andrej Belák, Daniela Bobáková, Ingrid Babinská and Peter Kolarčik met with other prominent researchers from Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia at the University of Debrecen. They were invited to share knowledge generated through our research on Roma health and to discuss research gaps and priorities.

The meeting was entitled “Central Eastern European Networking Event of Researchers on Roma Health and Policy”. It was organized by the WHO Collaborating Centre on Vulnerability and Health at the Department of Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Public Health, University of Debrecen in Hungary, in collaboration with the Division of Policy and Governance for Health and Well-being of WHO/Europe.

Visit of prof. Paula Santana in Košice

From 23th to 26th of April 2016  Prof. Paula Santana from the University of Coimbra in Portugal visited Kosice. Prof. Santana is a coordinator of the project H2020 called EURO-HEALTHY- “Shaping EUROpean policies to promote HEALTH equitY”.

The main aim of her visit was to meet with the research team from EUBA PHF in Kosice, which is a part of the consortium EURO-HEALTHY. At the same time, as a part of her visit,  she also met the team of prof. Madarasová Gecková at Medical Faculty, P. J. Safarik University. Coherent research networks in mentioned project EURO-HEALTHY is represented by Lucia Bosáková as participant / reasearcher and Andrej Belák as an invited expert.
