Our colleagues Andrej Belák and Andrea Madarasová Gecková were invited to present actual findings on Roma health at Academy of Roma studies (Nov 11, 2016, Bratislava) organized by Institute of Ethnology, Slovak Academy of Science (more details here ).

Department of Health Psychology, Faculty of Medicine, PJ Šafárik university organized on 11. 11. 2016 invited lecture by Mgr. Adam Janda OZ Prima on the topic “Specifics of working with people using drugs and working in the sex industry: Harm Reduction”.

We would  like to draw your attention to the two, very interesting, workshops to be organized in as a part of EHPS conference 2017 in Padova, Italy by SYNERGY – Moving Research into Practice: Novel Health Psychology Approaches to Implementation Science (see here for more details) and CREATE – Planning Health Promotion Programmes: an Intervention Mapping Approach (see here for more details).

Our colleagues Jaroslava Kopcakova and Daniela Husarova are on their study stay at University Medical Center Groningen of University in Groningen, The Netherlands during November 2016. During the stay they are working on articles connected to HBSC study and finalising their disserations in the field of adolescent health.

On 1-4 November 2016, our colleagues Andrea Madarasová Gecková, Zuzana Dankulincová, Jana Holubčíková, Daniela Husárová and Jaroslava Kopčáková met with other prominent researchers in the adolescent health on the regular meeting of Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study network discussing finalising research themes and protocol for upcoming data collection in 2017/2018.

New original article of our colleagues Michaela Palfiova, Zuzana Dankulincova Veselska , Daniela Bobakova, Jana Holubcikova, Ivo Cermak, Andrea Madarasova Geckova, Jitse van Dijk, and Sijmen Reijneveld “Is risk-taking behaviour more prevalent among adolescents with learning disabilities?” was published online in The European Journal of Public Health.

Department of Health Psychology, Faculty of Medicine, PJ Šafárik university organized on 21. 10. 2016 invited lecture by Mgr. Jan Širůček, PhD. from Masaryk university in Brno, Czech Republic on the topic “The development of intellectual abilities in the conditions of socio-cultural disadvantages”.

Andrea Madarasova Geckova and Andrej Belak were invited by the Ministry of Health State Secretary, prof. Špánik, to discuss involvement of Coherent in the planned evaluation of the National Project Healthy Communities (health mediation for marginalised Roma Communities) on 13. of October in Bratislava, Slovakia.

On 12.-30. of September, Andrej Belak visited our sister department at the Groningen University Medical Center (Groningen, the Netherlands) as a visiting teacher through the Erasmus+ program.

On 22.-28. of June, our colleague Andrej Belak attended the first Romani studies summer school organized in Senec, Slovakia by the newly established Network of Academic Institutions on Romani Studies (NAIRS), of which our Department has recently become a member.
