Katarína Csonková

Mgr. Katarína Csonková (born in 2001) is a PhD student in Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. Her doctoral dissertation, System of care for adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems: parents’ perspective, examines how parents perceive and navigate care systems supporting adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges. Her research focuses on the accessibility, effectiveness, and emotional dynamics of both professional and family-based support, aiming to contribute to the development of more inclusive and responsive care models for families dealing with adolescent mental health issues.

Her academic interest in mental health began during her undergraduate studies, where she explored the relationship between quality of life and mental health among athletes in her bachelor’s thesis. She continued this line of inquiry in her master’s thesis, Does Frequent Sports Activity Support the Socio-Psychological Well-being of Adolescents?, supervised by Mgr. Ondrej Kalina, PhD. These projects established the foundation for her ongoing commitment to understanding the protective factors that promote psychological resilience in young people.

Under the supervision of Ing. Lucia Bosáková, PhD. et PhD., Katarína continues to refine her methodological and analytical competencies while advancing her research in the broader context of public health psychology. She is dedicated to integrating psychological insights into public health frameworks to foster evidence-based interventions and policy initiatives that strengthen mental health support for children and adolescents.

Through her academic and research engagement, Katarína strives to contribute to the creation of equitable, empathetic, and effective systems of mental health care for young people and their families.
