Ingrid Babinská, PhD. (1970) graduated as a Medical Doctor in 1995 at the Medical Faculty, University of P.J. Šafárik in Košice. She received her specialization in the field of hygiene and epidemiology (1999), specialization in the field of public health (2009) and completed three years of study Master of Public Health (2002-2005). She finished her PhD study in Public Health (P.J. Šafárik University in Košice, Slovak Republic, 2014). Her research focused on risk factors for cardiovascular disease in the adult population with a particular focus on socio-economically disadvantaged groups (population living in segregated Roma settlements). At present time, she is the in the position of the Assistant Professor at the Department of Epidemiology, Faculty of Medicine, P.J. Šafárik in Košice. She worked in the position of physician, public health professionals and regional hygienist and chief of office. Long term she worked in the field of prevention and health promotion with the focus on nutrition, physical activity, smoking prevention and drug addiction and participated in the implementation of national (National Health Promotion Programme, National Obesity Prevention Programme, National Programme for the Fight against Drugs) and international projects (CINDI – Countrywide Integrated Non-communicable Disease Intervention Programme). She was a member of the research team HepaMeta study focusing on the prevalence of viral hepatitis B/C and metabolic syndrome in the population living in separated and segregated Roma settlements.
