Our colleagues Jaroslava Kopcakova and Daniela Husarova are on their study stay at University Medical Center Groningen of University in Groningen, The Netherlands during November 2016. During the stay they are working on articles connected to HBSC study and finalising their disserations in the field of adolescent health.

On 1-4 November 2016, our colleagues Andrea Madarasová Gecková, Zuzana Dankulincová, Jana Holubčíková, Daniela Husárová and Jaroslava Kopčáková met with other prominent researchers in the adolescent health on the regular meeting of Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study network discussing finalising research themes and protocol for upcoming data collection in 2017/2018.

New original article of our colleagues Michaela Palfiova, Zuzana Dankulincova Veselska , Daniela Bobakova, Jana Holubcikova, Ivo Cermak, Andrea Madarasova Geckova, Jitse van Dijk, and Sijmen Reijneveld “Is risk-taking behaviour more prevalent among adolescents with learning disabilities?” was published online in The European Journal of Public Health.

Department of Health Psychology, Faculty of Medicine, PJ Šafárik university organized on 21. 10. 2016 invited lecture by Mgr. Jan Širůček, PhD. from Masaryk university in Brno, Czech Republic on the topic “The development of intellectual abilities in the conditions of socio-cultural disadvantages”.

Andrea Madarasova Geckova and Andrej Belak were invited by the Ministry of Health State Secretary, prof. Špánik, to discuss involvement of Coherent in the planned evaluation of the National Project Healthy Communities (health mediation for marginalised Roma Communities) on 13. of October in Bratislava, Slovakia.

On 12.-30. of September, Andrej Belak visited our sister department at the Groningen University Medical Center (Groningen, the Netherlands) as a visiting teacher through the Erasmus+ program.

On 22.-28. of June, our colleague Andrej Belak attended the first Romani studies summer school organized in Senec, Slovakia by the newly established Network of Academic Institutions on Romani Studies (NAIRS), of which our Department has recently become a member.

On the 28th of September our colleague Jana Holubcikova have been awarded a PhD degree at the University of Groningen. PhD ceremony held in the University of Groningen’s auditorium. The thesis entitled “Eating habits, body image and health and behavioural problems of adolescents: The role of school and family context” was defended in the presence of the College of Deans and the PhD Examining Committee.
