The pandemic wave in Slovakia is growing and with it the burden of our healthcare system. However, the health sector has been reporting a number of other problems for a long time and it seems that their pandemic will only deepen them.
Health care workers are becoming one of the most important topics today. How are they? Are they in danger of burning out? What do the latest surveys say about this? How do those who work in covid wards and as psychologists see the situation?
All of this was discussed by invited guests in online discussion organized by association Science helps.

II International Forum of the ERNST Consortium “Building a European Network for improving the resilience of the healthcare professional in stressful situations” offered lectures, experiences and round table discussions on how to design intervention programs and revision of the state of art. Shared experiences on how health professionals have been supported during the COVID-19 pandemic were presented and a roundtable of young researchers talking about their projects was organized.

Pandemic measures have been with us here since March 2020. They have significantly changed our lives, but in particular they have probably saved thousands of lives in Slovakia. What their effectiveness is, what their real implementation in society is, and what longer-term social impacts they have on us, were discussed thanks to association Science helps and prof. Andrea Madarasová Gecková was invited as a guest.

In cooperation with Kino Úsmev, on 12 October we organized a lecture with a discussion on unconventional medicine and medical pluralism in Slovakia. The guests were Roman Hofreiter and Ivan Souček from Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.

On the 6th of October 2021 our colleague, Miriama Lacková Rebičová have been awarded a double PhD degree at the University of Groningen during a defence and PhD ceremony held online between the University of Groningen and Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice. The thesis entitled “Adverse childhood experiences among adolescents with emotional and behavioural problems” was defended in the presence of the College of Deans and the PhD Examining Committee. Our colleague Jaroslava Kopcakova atendeed 11th International Scientific and Profesional Conference “Child in motion, The lockdown aftermath” organised by Science and Research Centre Koper, Slovenia held in person in Portorož, Slovenia.
From 4th to 6th October 2021 she had an opportunity to meet with colleagues from research areas and experts from Paediatric Society, Healthcare Centers, different European Universities as well as experts in Education, Kinesiology, Sport and Physical education.



PARIPRE 2nd Transnational project meeting and 1st Workshop taked place in Portoroz,Slovenia and our colleague Jaroslava Kopcakova represented University of P.J.Safarik University and attended this important meetings.
Within PARIPRE Workshop Peter Bakalar, PhD, presented the objectives and intellectual outputs of the #paripre project to stakeholders from sport, education and health sectors. Jari Parkkari, PhD, followed project presentation with the lecture “Physical activity-related injuries prevention in youth”. Mari Leppänen, PhD, introduced the PARIPRE recommendations.
